"Soul Brother Number One," "The Godfather of Soul," "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business," "Mr. Dynamite" – those are mighty titles, but no one can question that James Brown earned them more than any other performer. Other singers were more popular, others were equally skilled, but few other musicians were so influential over the course of popular music. And no other musician put on a more exciting, exhilarating stage show

Any cd which starts out with Blues Power featuring Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown on vocals, Eric Clapton on guitar, and Leon Russell playing piano and doing vocals is worth a listen to. Long Way Home continues to impress with every track. Brown demonstrates his musical skills, and careful choice of music. His all star cast includes Clapton, Russell, Ry Cooder, John Loudermilk (who wrote Tobacco Road and does the vocals on the cd) Sonny Landreth and Maria Muldaur. Great tracks besides Blues Power are Don't Think Twice with Maria Muldaur doing vocals with Gatemouth, Mean and Evil with Leon Russell sharing the stage with Gatemouth and of course Tobacco Road. This is a great cd for a blues or rock fan.

Brown began his career as a gospel singer in Toccoa, Georgia. He joined a rhythm and blues vocal group, the Gospel Starlighters (which later evolved into the Famous Flames) founded by Bobby Byrd, in which he was the lead singer. First coming to national public attention in the late 1950s as a member of the singing group The Famous Flames with the hit ballads "Please, Please, Please" and "Try Me", Brown built a reputation as a tireless live performer with the Famous Flames and his backing band, sometimes known as the James Brown Band or the James Brown Orchestra. His success peaked in the 1960s with the live album Live at the Apollo and hit singles such as "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag", "I Got You (I Feel Good)" and "It's a Man's Man's Man's World".

It only took two albums for Kane Brown to become one of country music's biggest stars. His third finds the singer in the mood for love songs—about his wife and family, his home state, his life—and willing to try on a few new guises. The record opens with chiming church bells and mournful strings as Kane announces "Bury me in Georgia," then gets very specific about where he wants that to be: miles out of Chattanooga, south of the Tennessee state line, on a "no-name road off Highway 2 just past the Welcome sign." It's more of a hard, swampy Southern rocker than Brown usually traffics in, and it's exciting to hear his usually cool voice getting fiery against strident guitar. The same goes for the raw-edged title track, a duet that finds him and Blake Shelton trading verses about toiling as line workers but wondering: What if they were actually made to be on the stage?

Arthur Brown was one of the prime movers behind the Progressive underground in late 1960s England, famous for his outlandish stage act which included psychedelic robes and a helmet of fire!
Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the British Rock icon. "Requiem" is an end-of-the-world concept album that comes on with a bang, not a whimper, and may well be the best thing that Arthur Brown has ever done! It's got all of the sonic excess you'd expect from the man who gave US 'Fire', but Brown's ornate Art-Rock tendencies are invariably backed up with enough visceral punch to make them marvelously affecting, not merely affected, while producer Earl Mankey handles the electronics well enough to maintain an unusually high level of interest and detail…

This essential 3-CD collector’s edition contains 75 remastered studio tracks, consisting of the fabulous early singles – both A & B sides – James Brown made for the Federal and King labels, between 1956 and 1962. This is the material upon which Brown’s kingdom was built. His early repertoire marks one of the most important building blocks of the soul and funk idioms. Highlights include “Please, Please, Please,” “Think,” “Try Me,” “Shout and Shimmy,” “Night Train,” “I Want You So Bad,” “It Was You,” and the instrumental numbers “Cross Firing” and the funky “Hold It.” Brown’s back-up singer Yvonne Fair is also featured belting out the original version of the worldwide smash “I Got You (I Feel Good)” titled “I Found You.” These recordings provide an opportunity to peek in on the still-growing Brown and hear him paying homage to his early influences. R&B balladry, doo wop, gospel and blues are all evident throughout this triple-set.
