Gyorgy Kosa plays a pivotal role in the history of Hungarian classical music as pianist, composer, and educator. He himself had excellent teachers and so had a bright start to his career. His first was Bela Bartok at the Academy of Music between 1912 and 1916 and for two years he had the pleasure of working under the guidance of Erno Dohnanyi, one of the most charismatic musicians of the twentieth century.

Nonesuch releases Louis Andriessen's "grotesque stagework" Theatre of the World—recorded live during the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2016 world premiere performances with conductor Reinbert de Leeuw and director Pierre Audi—on September 29, 2017. The nine-scene multi-media work, which was commissioned by the Philharmonic with generous support from the Lenore S. and Bernard A. Greenberg Fund, features a libretto by Helmut Krausser. Theatre of the World is a far-ranging exploration of the German Jesuit scholar Athanasius Kircher (1601–1680).

Marc Bouchkov was born 1991 into a family of musicians. He received his first lessons at the age of five from his grandfather, Mattis Vaitsner. His first public appearance was just one year later. Marc Bouchkov’s artistic development has been marked by numerous international prizes and awards. He won First Prize at the highly-regarded International Violin Contest Henri Koch, as well as at the 2010 European Young Concert Artists Auditio in Leipzig.

The 32-year-old Bergen-born saxophonist-composer Marius Neset has been at the height of his creative powers, especially on the evidence of a trio of consecutive albums released since 2014 on ACT, one of Europe’s leading jazz recording labels. He’s been keeping good company too. Aligning with other internationally-renowned, kindred spirits working at the borderline between jazz, improv and classical music, Neset released Lion in 2014, originally a ‘live’ commission in collaboration with the celebrated young Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, and collected a Norwegian Grammy award (Spellemannprisen).
