The Baptist's Head Compendium Chapman

Michael Head, former frontman of the Pale Fountains and current co-leader along with his brother John – who is also a Strand – of Brit pop outfit Shack, turns in a stellar chamber pop performance with Magical World of the Strands. Head, who is no stranger to either classy, baroque pop or neo-psychedelia, has composed an album of gorgeously illustrated songs that are lushly orchestrated by a standard rock quartet augmented by a flutist (Leslie Roberts) and a string quartet. The result is an album that, while little known, is a classic, a masterpiece of modern chamber pop.

Hit to Death in the Future Head is the fifth studio album by American rock band The Flaming Lips, released on August 11, 1992 by Warner Bros. Records. "Talkin' 'Bout the Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues (Everyone Wants to Live Forever)" was released as the lead track on the EP Yeah, I Know It's a Drag… But Wastin' Pigs Is Still Radical to promote the album. The title provided the inspiration for the name of the British band The Futureheads.

This disc contains songs and snippets of dialogue from the Monkees' full-length feature film of the same name. Although their Emmy-winning television program had been cancelled in the spring of 1968, the quartet quickly regrouped and, with the assistance of budding actor/director Jack Nicholson, created a 90-minute surreal cinematic experience – replete with matching soundtrack…

The Phil Woods Quintet's final recording on November 10, 2014 at the Deer Head inn with Bill Goodwin, Steve Gilmore, Bill Mays and Brian Lynch. If you are a Phil Woods fan (as I am), this album is essential; while the recordings took place not that long before Phil's death, and you can hear the evidence of his declining health, Phil is still Phil … and that means, that even with his health limitations, he is still masterful and this recording is a poignant tribute to his great career and legacy. The amazing trumpet playing of Brian Lynch is an added bonus; he really shines, and together, he and Phil … aw the whole quintet, really … make this album a not-to-be-missed gem!!
