Combining recordings from shows in December 1963 and August 1964 at Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California, Concert is the Beach Boys' first number one album, certified gold in the US and one of the last live documents of the original band with Brian Wilson, who would not perform in concert with the group for another 10 years.

The compilation's release was a result of revised European copyright laws, forcing some labels to publish unreleased archival material so that they would not lose their copyright. Live in Chicago 1965 is one of two such releases by Capitol Records in 2015, and the other was Beach Boys' Party! Uncovered and Unplugged.

Released in November 1965 as a filler to meet Christmas demand, the Beach Boys convened in the studio with some friends, some acoustic instruments and a batch of cover songs to record this album intended to sound like there was a party going on. The covers include several songs by the Beatles, a Bob Dylan tune, some vintage rock 'n' roll and a version of Barbara Ann by The Regents, a surprise hit single for the Beach Boys that peaked at number two in the US and number three in the UK. This version contains both the mono and stereo mixes of the album.

First off, let's clear up some discographical confusion: this album was originally titled Live in London and released overseas in 1970. When it was issued in the States in 1976, the title was changed to Beach Boys '69; further obfuscating matters, the performances were actually recorded in 1968.

Thanks to the surprising success of the compilation Endless Summer, the Beach Boys entered the studio in 1975 for the first time in almost three years. The album that followed, 15 Big Ones, balanced covers of rock and doo wop standards with seven new Beach Boys songs (including five Brian Wilson compositions). Most of the covers are mistakes, part of a misguided attempt by the aging Beach Boys to recapture the energy of their youth.

It received largely favorable reviews and reached number 29 on the US record charts, becoming their highest-charting LP of new music in the US since 1967. In the UK, Surf's Up peaked at number 15, continuing a string of top 40 records that had not abated since 1965.

The Flies were an English psychedelic pop band formed in London, England, in 1965. They are released three singles during their recording career, but in 1965 the band recorded a British Invasion-exploitation album on RCA Records, "Introducing the In-Sect Direct from London", under the name In-Sect, with all but one of the tracks on the piece being cover versions of contemporary pop hits.
