The fist ever Brainticket box set featuring 4 discs of these krautrock genius’s critically adored early ‘70s albums plus rare singles and live recordings, some of which have never been available on the commercial market - until now!
This box set on Cleopatra's Purple Pyramid imprint assembles their first three studio recordings (leaving out the early-'80s Voyage and Adventure) - in a sense, since it splits part of them up on the latter half of disc three. Brainticket's bona fide hippie classic, Cottonwoodhill from 1971, is here in its entirety, paired with a disc from a Vandroogenbroeck side project called Drum Circus and the album Magic Theater from the same period, which juxtaposed his organ, piano, flute, and sitar in the company of three drummers, two vocalists, a bassist, and a saxophonist…

This compilation presents two very different views into the performance life of King Crimson. The first disc gathers live material from the 1971/1972 quartet, a majority of which was culled from the Live at Summit Studios, Live at Plymouth, 1971, and Live in Detroit, MI 1971 archival recordings. The second disc, subtitled "Schizoid Men," contains a single 54-minute rendering of "21st Century Schizoid Man" that consists of ten separate sax and guitar solos seamlessly combined together. These were taken from various performances throughout the 1971/1972 era - although exact dates are conspicuously absent in the packaging. Although the track is indexed for easier access to the edits, there are no interruptions or fades from blow to blow…
Some people like violence so much, that they decide to create a club in which human hunts are organized - members being alternately hunters, and prey, until they end up dead.
A campy futuristic tale where people hunt one another for sport. In this film, Victim and Hunter run around Italy trying to score a kill in front of the movie crews they arranged so they could make commercials from the footage.
A profoundly modern dimension emerges from this confrontation between English works from the 17th century (Henry Purcell, Matthew Locke) and works from the 20th and 21st centuries (Philippe Hersant, Franck Martin, Thierry Pécou). Coming from highly different musical universes, each composition is, however, largely inspired by the founding themes of Shakespeares play, sometimes taking up excerpts from it. The text is recited in English, or rather Shakespeares Old English, as are all the sung parts, in order to reproduce the strong, sweet accent of that tongue.
