A massive live set from Cannonball Adderley – and a record that really shows the growth he'd undergone in just a few short years! The album's done in close collaboration with David Axelrod – who'd handled Cannon's big live dates for Capitol in the 60s – but this record is much more freewheeling, open-ended, fuzz, funky, and electric overall! Tracks are all nice and long, and really trip out in the best way – with keyboards from George Duke in the core group, plus some heavy basslines from Walter Booker, drums from Roy McCurdy, and guitar from Mike Deasy on a number of key tracks.

A Space In Time is Ten Years Afters sixth, and best selling album, and was originally released in August 1971. Featuring their most well-known track Id Love To Change The Worlds, which regularly features in movies and TV shows, saw the band taking a more melodic direction from previous releases and showcased the band at their peak. This new (delayed) 50th Anniversary edition of the album features a brand new mix by the original producer/engineer, Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones/Emerson Lake & Palmer/Marillion), using the original 2” multitrack tapes. He has used modern day plug-ins that perfectly emulate and expand upon the original recording. The results are stunning.

It is no coincidence that Helge Hurum is the first artist, together with Svein Finnerud Trio, to be released in the series of unreleased recordings from the Norwegian Broadcasting Bureau archives (NRK). Hurum has been one of the most important composers and musicians on the Norwegian jazz scene the last 40 years, but his important works and recordings has been poorly documented.

The release of Harmony in the fall of 1971 gave Three Dog Night their seventh gold record in less than three years, yielding two Top Ten singles with Paul William's "Old Fashioned Love Song" (number four) and Hoyt Axton's "Never Been to Spain" (number five). In addition, William's "Family of Man" would just fail to crack the top of the charts, rising as high as number 12 by March of 1972. This continued commercial brilliance would, unfortunately, have negative repercussions on vocalist Chuck Negron's personal life with a car accident, following a substance-fuelled mixing session, signaling the beginning of his protracted slide into drug addiction and eventual transience.
