Not only does it sport one of the greatest album covers of all time, but 1968’s ‘The Bottom Of The Bottle’ is also one of the very finest of Porter Wagoner’s legendary string of concept LPs. Alcoholic cautionary-tales fashioned from pedal steel, string bass and pure pathos – Porter’s cast of inebriates shuffle from barstool to gutter to grave. ‘Wino’ opens proceedings with surreal back-alley sound-scapes and heart-rending narration, ‘Daddy And The Wine’ charts the downfall of a heart-broken man and ‘One Dime For The Wine’ a rural man’s obliteration in the faceless urban jungle.

In the early to mid-1960s in Australia, the landscape was rapidly changing - the Holden now had serious competition from newcomers the Ford Falcon and Chrysler Valiant. Householders were saving and buying television sets - and Top 40 radio along with local record shops were doing big business. Another Saturday Night - 60s Giants of The Jukebox, put together by compilation producer Brent James takes us back to that booming period just prior to - and at the start of the 'British Invasion'. A 2CD set superbly mastered with State by State Australian Chart details along with extensive liner notes, the set features local chart hits from Tommy Roe, Johnny O'Keefe, Rick Nelson, Bobby Fuller, The Delltones, Jumpin' Gene Simmons, Mike Sarne, Elvis Presley, Del Shannon and many others who set the stage the for the hits that were to come.

This compilation provides an interesting survey of 9 blues slide guitar players. Collected from various independent record labels and recorded over the period 1960 through 1993, all of these tracks have been previously released albeit on hard to find albums and CDs. It is great to have these tracks collected in one place.

The second box in as many years of a truckload of obscure British psychedelia. Here are ten more CDs' worth of serious rarities by some bands that barely scratched the surface of the British freakbeat scene during rock's golden era, and a few who went on to other things. In all, there are 128 cuts here, all compiled and annotated by Phil Smee – of Perfumed Garden fame (also issued by Past And Present). While some of these acts, such as the Poets, the Human Instinct, Outer Limits, and Denny Laine left marks on the scene, as did mod bands such as les Fleur De Lys and the Buzz; many others came from the swamp and returned with only these few minutes of glory for all of their efforts.

Some Other Time: The Lost Session From the Black Forest is a newly unearthed studio session from the iconic pianist Bill Evans featuring bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Jack DeJohnette. Recorded on June 20, 1968, nearly 10 years after the legendary Kind of Blue sessions with Miles Davis and a mere five days after the trio's incredible Grammy award-winning performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, this is truly a landmark discovery for jazz listeners worldwide. Available in deluxe 2-CD and limited edition 2-LP sets, and containing over 90 minutes of music, this is the only studio album in existence of the Bill Evans trio with Gomez and DeJohnette. Some Other Time was recorded by the legendary MPS Records founder and producer Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer along with writer/producer Joachim-Ernst Berendt at the MPS studios in the Black Forest (Villingen, Germany).
