Waiting for the Sun is the third studio album by the American rock band the Doors, recorded from February to May 1968 and released in July 1968. It became the band's first and only No. 1 album, spawning their second US number one single, "Hello, I Love You". It also became the band's first hit album in the UK, where it peaked at No. 16 on the chart.

Bright Midnight Archives was a specialty sublabel at Rhino Entertainment the sole mission of which was to release full live recordings of the Doors' performances from the band's vast archives. These releases were usually made available through the band's official website. Set the Night on Fire is an Internet-only collection that puts together several full-show recordings released previously through the Bright Midnight Archives imprint, namely a performance in Detroit and both homecoming shows at the Aquarius Theatre in Los Angeles in 1969.

The Doors, one of the most influential and controversial rock bands of the 1960s, were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by UCLA film students Ray Manzarek, keyboards, and Jim Morrison, vocals; with drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger. The Doors is the debut studio album by the American rock band the Doors, released on January 4, 1967, by Elektra Records. It was recorded in August 1966 at Sunset Sound Recorders, in Hollywood, California, under the production of Paul A. Rothchild. The album features the extended version of the band's breakthrough single "Light My Fire" and the lengthy closer "The End" with its Oedipal spoken word section. Various publications, including BBC and Rolling Stone, have listed The Doors as one of the greatest debut albums of all time.

The Doors mark the moment when the American rock underground of the 1960s came crashing into the mainstream.
