The George Masso Sextet C’est Magnifique

In 1962, Ella Fitzgerald was at the height of her powers, about midway through recording her now-iconic series of "songbook" albums and, two years earlier, having released a barnstormer of a live album, Ella in Berlin, that solidified her position as one of the most talented and popular musicians working in the jazz idiom.

Presenting the Gerry Mulligan Sextet is an album led by American jazz baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan featuring tracks recorded in 1955 and released on the EmArcy label.

Our newest recording project, Vieja Escuela, is an 'old school' tribute to our ancestors and mentors featuriing these four legendary guests: supreme Cuban vocalist Ernesto Oviedo (1935-2019), master Cuban rumba composer and percussionist Raul de la Caridad Gonzalez Brito 'Lali' (1949-2022), pioneering Nuyorican Latin Jazz trumpeter/percussionist and bandleader Jerry Gonzalez (1949-2018), and living legend master Cuban percussionist Orestes Vilató (b.1944). Also featured prominently are the remarkable members of the JS Sextet: Dr. John Calloway, Melecio Magdaluyo, Saul Sierra, Marco Diaz, David Flores and Charlie Gurke. Rumba callejera, danzón, bolero, son montuno, spoken word, Lukumí-funk, and funky jazz Latino are all employed here!

Don Lanphere was born June 26th 1928 in Wenatchee, Washington State. His father ran the biggest music store in town which is where Don first encountered jazz.

The governing principle behind 'Theatre Of the Absurd Presents C'est La Vie', is: 'let Madness be Madness'. The result is an album of typically timeless brilliance that also reflects the wonky years of its creation.
