The eighth release in the Sources series is the sister label to DJ International and an equally good source of authentic House music from one of the pioneer labels, Underground Records. In fact Underground records can be credited with scoring House music’s first No.1 hit with Steve ‘Silk’ Hurleys infectious “Jack Your Body” which hit the No.1 slot in the U.K. at the beginning of 1987 and was probably responsible for spreading the growth of House music throughout Europe. Despite having scored such a huge hit with their first release, Underground stayed true to its name and released scores of incredible records which have since become very collectible and have spawned some of the biggest names in House music history - Liz Torres featuring Kenny Jammin’ Jason, MD111, Tyree, E.S.P., Fingers Inc, Fast Eddie Smith, Sterling Void, K-Alexi to name a few. Recent years have seen a boom in the amount of interest in the label and now many of the original 12” releases have leapt in value and are commanding huge prices. Records like Cool House’s “Rock This Party Right”, MD111’s “Face The Nation”, Tyree’s “Acid Over” and E.S.P.’s “It’s U” among others, continue to rocket in price. All are included in this exceptional package! As with all Sources releases, ‘Sources: The DJ International Records Anthology’ has been lovingly compiled using the best mixes as chosen by Bill Brewster and lovingly re-mastered to make these slices of 1980s dance music history sound the best they’ve ever sounded. Consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle, The Midnight have emerged in recent years as a veritable leader of the synthwave resurgence. More specifically, the duo have received generous support from legions of synthwave enthusiasts, as well as more casual synth-pop fans, ever since their aesthetic-defining debut EP, "Days of Thunder" (2014). Their subsequent LP offering, "Endless Summer" (2016), cemented the duo's reputation as one of the finest new synthwave acts, a sentiment that musical legends (Chicane), renowned artist peers (FM-84), and prominent genre hubs (NewRetroWave) have graciously reinforced of late. The Midnight Remixed, one of our most ambitious releases to date, features brand new remixes by a distinguished group of Silk Music veterans, whose melodic and atmospheric sound has significantly helped to define our brand. We've also recruited a few famed nonresident label contributors, including Lifelike and Michael Cassette, whose specific compositional gifts and musical legacies seemed especially apropos to this 80s-influenced endeavor.

Nina Simone was a singular artist, and she went where she pleased, leaving behind a recorded legacy that is passionate, political, defiant, and delicate by turns, no matter what strain of folk, blues, jazz, or gospel she was dipping into, and she did it all with dignity, grace, and intelligence. This set collects all nine of her albums for RCA Records (released between 1967 and 1974), and thus includes some of her greatest recordings. Signature songs like "I Loves You, Porgy," "I Want a Little Sugar in My Bowl" (in a couple of versions), and "Mississippi Goddam" (a Simone original – one wishes she had written more than she did) are all here, along with powerful versions of songs by Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Willie Dixon, the Beatles, and Randy Newman, among others.
