Delve into the Dutch jazz scene of the 1950s and 1960s with a selection of classic and rare hard bop and cool jazz tracks from artists like Herman Schoonderwalt, the Diamond Five, Wessel Ilcken and Tony Vos. Holland never sounded this hip before! “Jazz is garbage and a caricature of the modern orchestra; it is garbage arranged by half-grown musicians for the benefit of common entertainment.” In spite of the Dutch cultural establishment’s attempts to preclude jazz - as illustrated by this citation from the October 1926 issue of music magazine De Muziek - The Netherlands was one of the earliest adopters of the new music style as it came over to the Old Continent at the end of World War I and this compilation proves it like no other.

Joe Hill Louis is a highly regarded Memphis blues artist whose career never really took off nationally. Despite this he was very famous around Memphis and recorded a considerable body of work. Essentially a one-man-band. He sang, played guitar, blew harmonica all with added percussion making one of the most exciting and danceable sounds of 50s R&B. He was a pioneer of distorted and over amplified guitar which can be heard on one of his most famous and influential recordings, "Boogie In The Park". And Boogie is what you'll do when you listen to this fantastic collection. Also featured are some rare recordings from labels like Checker, Meteor, Rockin' and Big Town.

This fascinating, handsomely recorded CD offers us arias from Mitridate and Ascanio in Alba, and a concert aria by Mozart (the only one he composed for male alto), as well as some Handel and Gluck arias. With them, Daniels takes us through every quality a classically trained singer should have and comes through with flying colors. The arias are about vengeance, sorrow, love–the usual–but within baroque strictures that means that some require lush, limpid singing, others ferocious coloratura and exclamatory heft, and some all of these.

The Hi-Lo's were a close-harmony vocal quartet of the 1950's and early 1960's who brought the arrangement and harmonics of popular song to a standard which has seldom been equalled and never surpassed. One of the most innovative jazz/pop vocal groups of all time, the pioneering Hi-Lo's influenced countless pop, R&B, and Doo Wop groups from the '50s right up to the present. The group's personal appearances at this time are well remembered. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, the Mamas and the Papas, the Gatlin Brothers, Manhattan Transfer and Take Six were all awakening to their own musical ambitions at this time and cite the Hi-Lo's as a major musical influence.

The film is about a reality show organized by Star Ananda, where the two finalists, Arka and Dodo, are given two tasks to fulfill. Dodo is given the duty of a police constable at Bhawanipur police station while Arka is given the duty of a driver. They are given three days and two nights to battle out and the prize is fixed at INR. 10 million. The one who makes fewer mistakes will win the jackpot.
