By the time Les McCann released "Compared to What" – the classic vocal track from the live Swiss Movement with Eddie Harris – the pianist was already a dozen albums into his career. Before that, he cut hip little piano trio records live and in studios with killer rhythm sections using a unique meld of blues, gospel, hard bop, and soul in an approach that made him one of the more iconic live jazz performers during the '60s and '70s. The appearance of this multi-disc set from Resonance, co-produced by Zev Feldman and George Klabin, highlights that early period. Never a Dull Moment! hosts 21 previously unreleased instrumental selections. The first 13 were recorded during performances at Seattle's The Penthouse in early 1966. The final eight were drawn from a July 1967 gig at New York's Village Vanguard. McCann's rhythm sections – in Seattle bassist Stanley Gilbert and either Paul Humphrey or Tony Bazley on drums; in New York, bassist Leroy Vinnegar and drummer Victor Gaskin – were swinging and attentive.

Despite the immense hype for Jon Amiel's early summer, 1999 flick Entrapment, a variety of deeply rooted flaws kept the picture from attaining success. Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones are thieves in a caper story that is as full of holes as any in memory, and the romantic chemistry between the two stars is betrayed by their age difference and Connery's lack of enthusiasm for the part. Pacing problems were the most damaging detractor, with too much of film dwelling on the planning and preparation for various heists before the final 20 minutes deliver the goods…

Arlington, Texas heavy metallers Pantera formed in 1981, and left a lasting (and blisteringly brutal) legacy over the next 22 years, before disbanding in 2003. With their 1990 album Cowboys From Hell, Pantera debuted their signature sound and invigorated the metal scene while enlisting legions of devoted fans around the world. For the next decade, the band continued to ascend to the top of the music world, earning four platinum albums and, with 1994's Far Beyond Driven, a #1 debut on the Billboard album chart. To celebrate Pantera's raucous legacy, Rhino will release both a new box set. THE COMPLETE STUDIO ALBUMS 1990-2000, compiled of Cowboys From Hell (1990), Vulgar Display Of Power (1992), Far Beyond Driven (1994), The Great Southern Trendkill (1996), Offiicial Live: 101 Proof (1997), and Reinventing The Steel (2000).
