Polina Osetinskaya started to play on stage at the age of six. At eight, she performed with an orchestra. She finished the lyceum school of the St. Petersburg Conservatory where she studied with the famous teacher of the Leningrad piano school Marina Wolf and then took a course in Moscow with professor Vera Gornostayeva. The pianist believes that period of her life and studies in St. Petersburg, when she matured both musically and spiritually, was a true beginning of her artistic career. Today, Polina Osetinskaya is a winner of a Triumph Award and active concert musician.

The present recording presents a well-matched programme comprising two piano works by Pyotr (Il’yich) Tchaikovsky (1840-1893): 'The Seasons' Op. 37a – Twelve Character Pieces, 1875/76, and the Dumka (Scène rustique russe / Russian rural scene,) Op. 59, in C minor, 1885/1886. Both compositions have 'scenic' subtitles: 'The Seasons' are characteristic scenes, the Dumka a Russian village scene. The topic of seasons in art Since time immemorial, the seasons of the year have played a major part in the arts. They symbolize the eternal cycle of nature, the relentless progress of time, the coming and going of people and things, the process of decay and renewal. Thus they have come to stand for the phases of human life. In the fine arts, human figures were often used in allegorical manner.

The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change is the second studio album by Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt, released on 1 February 2019 through Cooking Vinyl. "Loyal to Me" was released as a single from the album. In 1973, he moved from urban London to the tiny Alpine village of Quincy. THE SEASONS IN QUINCY: FOUR PORTRAITS OF JOHN BERGER examines different aspects of Berger's life in this remote village in the Alps. In four seasonal chapters, the film combines ideas and motifs from his work with the texture and history of his mountain home.

In a world of constant flux and chaos, it is almost a shock to discover some experiences remain unchanged, natural, primitive even. In the middle of London lies Hampstead Heath, 320 hectares of forest, parkland and wildlife, plus three swimming ponds. People take their waters all year round, just as they did in the time of Constable and Keats. Capturing all the beauty of the English seasons, the film follows the swimmers over 12 months as they shiver, laugh, complain, ruminate, philosophise or simply seek respite from all that life threw at them.

The cycle of the seasons has been celebrated many times by composers, from Jean-Baptiste Lully (Ballet of the Seasons) to Alexander Glazunov, not forgetting Antonio Vivaldi and Joseph Haydn. In the 19 th century, composer-pianists such as Carl Czerny and Isaac Albéniz used the seasons as inspiration for keyboard pieces. Others imagined painting a little musical picture for each month of the year. This was the case for Fanny Hensel (the sister of Felix Mendelssohn) with Das Jahr (1841), for the French composer Charles-Valentin Alkan with Les Mois (1872) and for Tchaikovsky with his Seasons, which are undoubtedly the most famous of these musical calendars.
