Bernard Stanley "Acker" Bilk was an English clarinettist and vocalist known for his appearance – goatee, bowler hat and striped waistcoat – and breathy, vibrato-rich, lower-register clarinet style. Bilk's 1962 instrumental tune "Stranger on the Shore" became the UK's biggest selling single of 1962: it was in the UK charts for more than 50 weeks, peaking at number two, and was the first No. 1 single in the United States by a British artist in the era of the modern Billboard Hot 100 pop chart.

The Shore is a 1995 4-song EP by Mountlake Terrace, Washington thrash metal band Forced Entry. This EP was self-released, featuring material recorded during the sessions of their 1991 second album As Above So Below. Their contract with Relativity Records was over and they struggled to still make it in a metal world post-Metallica and a Pacific Northwest post-Nirvana but it very much was a different world when they released their debut in 1989. The trio quickly split up after this.

Emil Viklicky's second release from Venus is an unique concept album. It's a tribute to the internationally renowned Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami, whose recent work featured Janacek's Sinfonietta as an important device. Viklicky met Murakami in 2010 and was surprised how well the writer was versed with the music of Janacek. A while later, he decided to dedicate his second album for Venus to Murakami, who is also known as a jazz afficionado. The program consists of Viklicky's originals inspired by the literary works of Murakami, a Beatles tune ("Eleanor Rigby") and several well known jazz tunes.
