Although often associated with the blues, only one of the ten selections on this quartet set by pianist Gene Harris (who is joined by guitarist Ron Eschete, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Jeff Hamilton) is technically a blues. On this excellent all-around showcase for the soulful pianist, Harris sounds in prime form exploring such tunes as "This Masquerade", "Don't Be That Way", Eddie Harris' "Listen Here", and "The Song Is Ended". Listen Here! gives listeners a pretty definitive look at Gene Harris' accessible and swinging style.

Love And Rockets formed in 1985, almost 2 years after the demise of cult goth pioneers Bauhaus. The band re-united Daniel Ash (vocals and guitar), David J (vocals and bass) and Kevin Haskins (drums). Back in the mid-Eighties, when the US alternative scene was just that, Love And Rockets were one of the leading lights. This special release of the band's debut album features a high definition 96 kHz / 24 bit surround mix created by Neil Wilkes from the analogue multi-tracks and also includes three additional bonus tracks from the original session including the single "Ball Of Confusion" and a cover of Pink Floyd's "Lucifer Sam". The original stereo masters, as used on the CD and vinyl, were digitally mixed on to F1 masters in 1985 at 44.1 kHz / 16 bit, so no high resolution analogue copies were created. For the Blu-ray release, Neil Wilkes has created a new HD stereo mix. The release has been approved by original producer John A. Rivers.

The Kinks were one of the most influential bands of the British Invasion. Early singles "You Really Got Me" and "All Day and All of the Night" were brutal, three-chord ravers that paved the way for punk and metal while inspiring peers like the Who. In the mid-'60s, frontman Ray Davies came into his own as a songwriter, developing a wry wit and an eye for social commentary that culminated in a pair of conceptual LPs, The Village Green Preservation Society and Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire), that proved enormously influential over the years.

16 months and 3,000 miles separate this disc by saxophonist Rickey Woodard from his impressive debut on Candid, California Cooking! (CCD 79509). That set, as the title implied, found Rickey heading a quartet of West Coast based players in his adopted Los Angeles. The intimate quartet format is retained here for the follow up, but there are many differences, not least the fact that it was a live date in the Apple with a hot New York Rhythm section.
