Norwegian act D'ACCORD was formed in early 2008. Just one year later they were ready with their self-titled debut album, a production that eventually led to the band signing with Karisma Records. Their first album as a signed band was "Helike" from 2011, and in the early spring of 2014 D'Accord returned with their third CD, "D'Accord III", their second album to be released through Karisma Records. If you subscribe to the notion that just about all music worth appreciating was made in the late 60's and early 1970's, D'Accord will be a band that merits a check at this point. They have a bonafide vintage sound, and pulls in details from what, I suspect, is a wide variety of bands with fairly different stylistic expressions to make their own vintage rock stew.
Original Album Series contains Curtis Mayfield's first five solo albums: Curtis (1970), Curtis Live! (1971), Roots (1971), Back to the World (1973), and Sweet Exorcist (1974). As with other Original Album Series packages, each disc is in a paper, LP replica-style sleeve with reproductions of the front and back sides. With the release of Original Album Series by Curtis Mayfield you get 5 Cds by the man himself It really is wonderful bargain.Unlike other sets these have not been re mastered and DO NOT include any extra tracks which is a shame. But then Curtis Mayfield produced each and every one of the five so I suspect that there was no need for them to be remastered as the sound was good to begin with.
For me, this release took time to sink in because there is so much going on. Not just shredding but dynamics and melody that gives your brain a workout. Then it clicked - holy crap this is an incredible collaboration of sonic nirvana! Every song on "Culture Clash" is killer and has its own personality. Whether rock, fusion, techno, rockabilly, or prog-metal, these tunes are clever and well thought out with arrangements to die for. The disc clocks in just over 57 minutes, all instrumental, and each band mate wrote three songs. You can get lost in these songs and shouldn't focus too long on one instrument because the sum is better than its parts.
