The first volume in a series combining Radulescu’s complete Piano Sonatas and String Quartets, there are six of each, on Mode performed by the superb JACK Quartet and Stephen Clarke (piano). In the 1970s, Horatio Radulescu (1942-2008) began exploring and composing begun composing what he called “plasmatic music,” in which sound was conceived as an “endless ocean of vibrations,” as opposed to the traditional way in which music treats sound as a fabric of discrete scale steps. His music is linked to the “spectral music” school. Radulescu’s Fifth String Quartet is one of the key works in his output. It is in some ways the richest manifestation of the body of string techniques he had developed for his music. The Second Piano Sonata is inspired by the Tao of Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu (6-5 BC). The first movement, “Immanence,” opens with a powerful sonority built from spectral functions which gives a sense of immensity and strength. The Fifth Piano Sonata makes abundant use — more so than any of the other sonatas — of Romanian folk material, which is absorbed and integrated into Radulescu’s spectral language.

The book gives an introduction to the field quantization (second quantization) of light and matter with applications to atomic physics. The first chapter briefly reviews the origins of special relativity and quantum mechanics and the basic notions of quantum information theory and quantum statistical mechanics. The second chapter is devoted to the second quantization of the electromagnetic field, while the third chapter shows the consequences of the light field quantization in the description of electromagnetic transitions.

Microphone Music is a 2003 double CD compilation by The Raymond Scott Quintette. It is "a collection of unreleased titles, radio performances, first-rate rehearsals and forgotten gems by the Raymond Scott Quintette recorded between 1936 and 1939." (The size of each version are correct, due to this being a mono CD and what it results in when converted to each format.)

We The North: The Live Archive series makes its maiden crossing of the Canadian border for Springsteen's first-ever show in Toronto on the Born to Run tour. Braving a freezing cold Ontario night, Bruce and the E Street Band warm up the Seneca Field House and win over 3,000 Torontonians in the process. The 17-song setlist is packed with gifts including "Lost in the Flood," "Saint in the City," "Kitty's Back," "Jungleland" and a joyful stroll through "Pretty Flamingo." The encore features one of the earliest performances of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," a snappy "Detroit Medley" enlivened by "the whole goddamn band" and a devastating, solo-piano "For You."

Recorded live to tape in just 5 days by venerated underground engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Shellac, Pixies) "24-7 Rock Star Shit" marks a return to the bands early roots with it's raw, rough-around-the-edges approach and sonic aggression. Originally conceived during recording sessions for the bands fifth album "In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull" these recordings were elevated to qua-si-mythical status amongst the bands famously dedicated fan-base, with ex-citement building for a "punk album" flipside to 2015's more pop-leaning "For All My Sisters". Originally intended as an EP, once sessions were completed the band found that they had recorded enough material for an album and decided it should be released that way instead.
