This 2CD 'Very Best Of' collection features Placido Domingo performing a wide selection of arias taken from works by Mozart, Handel, Puccini, Verdi and many more. Plácido Domingo has effectively and prolifically recorded for a number of labels, both "major" and "minor." For any one of them to come forward with a package purporting to be The Very Best of Plácido Domingo is presupposing a lot. Although a few of the recordings in this two-disc compilation come from the early '70s, the vast majority are late-career performances from the 1980s and 1990s. Domingo took care of his instrument longer than practically any other male singer in the late twentieth century; that said, this two-disc set is not so much Domingo's "very best" as it is some of the better performances from a period where he was a little past his prime.

The Very Best Of Oleta Adams is a compilation album by the American vocalist, pianist and songwriter Oleta Adams. Released at the end of 1996 in Europe, this album served to finish Adams' contract with Mercury Records. It includes singles and album highlights of her albums Circle of One, Evolution and Moving On. Also included is Adams' very first single release, the duet with Tears for Fears "Woman in Chains", as well as her 1991 cover of "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" for the Two Rooms album, neither of which had been included on her albums.

The Very Best of… Sting & The Police is a compilation album issued by Sting, and released by A&M Records in 1997. Conceived at the time when Sting had just released his fifth solo effort, Mercury Falling (hence equalling his personal tally with the one of The Police), the album mixes a selection of the Sting's Police-era songs with later hits recorded under his own name. It originally featured one new track, a remix of the 1978 song "Roxanne" by rap artist Sean "Puffy" Combs. The album was reissued in 1998 by PolyGram International with "Russians" removed and 3 additional tracks, "Seven Days", "Fragile", and "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da", being added.
