My remix of what for many is the greatest rock album ever made (and who am I to disagree?), Who’s Next by The Who is released as part of a lavish box set by Universal on 15th September. The set is really a beautiful thing to behold, although I appreciate that some many have preferred a cheaper option in order to hear the remix (the Atmos mix will however also be available on streaming services). I made new stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos mixes of 8 of the original 9 album tracks (the multitrack for Bargain was not available so appears as a Penteo upmix), as well as new stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos mixes of 14 bonus tracks from the 1970-72 era, meaning there are a total of 22 tracks newly mixed from the multitracks. The stereo and 5.1 mixes are in 96/24, the Atmos mixes are at 48/24.

Who's Next is the fifth studio album by English rock band The Who, released on 14 August 1971. Its origins lie in an abortive multi-media rock opera written by chief songwriter Pete Townshend called Lifehouse. The album was commercially and critically successful, and became the only one by the group to top the UK charts. The album was an immediate success when it was released, and has been certified 3× platinum by the RIAA. It continues to be critically acclaimed, including being cited by Time magazine as one of the best 100 albums of all time, and has been reissued on CD several times with additional material intended for Lifehouse. The cover artwork, featuring the group members having urinated against a monolith found on a slag heap, has also achieved critical recognition and was listed as one of VH1's greatest album covers of all time.

It is OOP from Pete's website, so here's your chance to listen to this gem. This 6 CD set brings together, at long last, the realisation of Pete Townshend's 'Lifehouse' project. Originally conceived in 1971, the project spawned many of Townshend's greatest songs but has only now been seen to be complete. The reason for this is the broadcast, by the BBC, in December 1999 of the Lifehouse radio play adaptation. The play realised the first wholly complete narrative of the story in almost 30 years and has prompted Townshend to creatively revisit the project and put together his complete record of Lifehouse.
