'Til We Meet Again, the first live album released by Norah Jones, collects highlights from the tours she gave in the wake of the 2016 release of Day Breaks. The 14 songs on 'Til We Meet Again were recorded between 2017 and 2019, taken from performances given in the United States, Italy, France, Brazil, and Argentina. To Jones' credit, the album doesn't feel like it was cobbled together from different sources. The music flows easily, with Jones taking the time to stretch and solo, playing with her vocal phrasing just enough to enliven older songs and give newer tunes a lift. There are some overt surprises, such as a closing cover of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" that was given a week after Chris Cornell's 2017 death at the same Detroit venue where the band played their last show, but this isn't an album that upends expectations. Rather, it's a testament to the enduring elegance of Norah Jones' jazz-pop while also offering proof of the depth of her songbook.
With a sterling career that boasts nine GRAMMYs, 50 million albums sold, and the most-livestreamed performances of 2020, Norah Jones has accomplished nearly every feat in the music industry. But on April 16th, Blue Note will be releasing Jones’ first-ever live album, ‘Til We Meet Again.
Before Milwaukee-born singer/songwriter Eric Benét began his solo career and began his ascent to international recognition as a best-selling contemporary recording artist and performer, he was a member of a short-lived duo with his sister Lisa that was known simply as Benét. The duo released a CD on EMI Records in 1992 that has become a curio collectible for fans of quality music and all curious about Eric’s formative roots as a recording artist.
Keyboardist Tom Coster has shown in his JVC recordings (of which this is the first) that fusion was not only alive in the 1990s (if somewhat underground) but still had potential for creativity. With assistance from altoist Marc Russo (formerly with the Yellowjackets), guitarist Chris Camozzi, electric bassist Alfonso Johnson, drummer Dennis Chambers and two guest spots for saxophonist Norbert Stachel, Coster performs spirited versions of 11 of his originals.
The Michael Thompson Band is back with their brand new album, “Love And Beyond” on April 26, 2019! For this new release, Michael wanted to go back to the more polished AOR sound of the band’s debut album. Once again, he teamed up with Wyn Davis for the mix and also had the amazing Mark Spiro involved in the songwriting and appearing on vocals together with the awesome Larry King and Larry Antonino. Best known for being Unruly Child’s bass player, Antonino delivers a phenomenal vocal performance which can only be defined as stunning. Another Unruly Child member, Guy Allison appears on keyboards, while drums on the album are handled by Sergio Gonzalez and Tim Pedersen.
