Time Burners

Comprising additional elements of jazz and street soul, Cookin’ on 3 Burners are a prestigious R&B group hailing from Melbourne, Australia. Originally made up of Hammond organ player Jake Mason, guitarist Lance Ferguson, and drummer Ivan Khatchoyan, the trio formed in 1997 after discovering they shared similar tastes in sound and genre. The three friends decided to form the band with traditional '50s- and '60s-era jazz and soul as its foundation, unified by the eclectic and prominent use of the Hammond organ, which went on to become one of the most definitive aspects of their sound; so much so that the group was also exclusively referred to as the "Hammond organ trio."

This nutty album features hits of the 1960s performed in the style of 1930s singers like Rudy Vallee. It is credited to "The Templeton Twins" but is actually performed by Ted Templeman with his voice double tracked. It should be noted that while almost all of the album features cover versions of then recent hits, there is one original novelty song called "Ooh, Ooh Guru". Also, "Our Way" is actually "My Way" (get it?). This is a fun album if you like twisted versions of familiar songs.

Trill It Like It Was is the first and only album by The Templeton Twins, who collaborated with Teddy Turner's Bunsen Burners for an album of then-hot pop songs but turned into vaudeville renditions. This was released by the Vault label in the U.S., Liberty Records in (West) Germany.
