Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to present the second installment of the Melodic Rock/AOR project Cry Of Dawn featuring Göran Edman on lead vocals. The self-titled debut album, released in 2016, was a welcome return for Edman and the new album, "Anthropocene" sees the talented singer sounding positively inspired. For "Anthropocene", Edman partnered with producer/songwriter/guitarist Tommy Denander to craft a superb, classic sounding AOR album that harkens back to the glory days of the genre. Edman's enthusiasm for this style of music shines through in his vocals and the passion translates clearly through all the performances.
Had they not been undone by behind-the-scenes business bunglings of the tallest order, Tokyo Blade might have joined Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Saxon at the top of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal heap, instead of barely sniffing at their heels. The Wilshire-based quintet certainly possessed the raw talent and the actual musical chops; their self-titled debut from 1983 was much better produced than most independent NWOBHM albums, and even their rising sun-themed iconography was particularly well conceived and portrayed to striking effect on said album's cover (not to mention their trousers!).

One of a pair of recordings made during a tour of Japan for Paddlewheel (a subsidiary of King), the Jim Hall Trio, with bassist Don Thompson and drummer Terry Clarke, is in top form during this 1976 concert. The opener, Charlie Parker's "Billie's Bounce," is an introspective interpretation, though played with plenty of fire, while "Twister," a duo performance credited to both Hall and Clarke, may very well be an improvisation. A quiet piece like the excerpt from Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjeuz" is tailor-made for Hall's often subtle, rather understated approach to his instrument. First-rate versions of "Chelsea Bridge" and "St. Thomas" round out this highly recommended live set.
