Bjorn Lynne has gained much admiration among both the EM & symphonic/progrock crowds for the way he has mastered the unifying of these differing musical styles. While the music on this album seems to have been influenced by his work in these areas, it reveals a new variation on Bjorn's hybrid of styles by introducing some exciting funk, jazz & even soul stylings. This is immediately obvious once the opening tracks "Turbo Grid" & "Play Dirty" get into their stride. The scorching rhythms are full of good old-fashioned funk while the guitars of Bjorn & guest axe man Marc Pattison lay down some red hot licks & grinding rhythm patterns that should keep the rockers amongst you happy, there's even the unmistakeable sound of the Minimoog in there, too, what more could you possibly ask for?
New studio album from Airbag co-founder, songwriter and lead guitarist, Bjørn Riis titled “A Storm Is Coming”, following up last year’s acclaimed mini album “Coming Home”. Six epic songs clocking in at 51 minutes, built around the central themes of human relations and loss, written as a dialogue between two persons. A Storm Is Coming is both heavier and more tender than the previous releases, and Bjørn Riis manages to majestically combine the art of rock, prog and atmospheric pop – resulting in his best album to date.
Bjorn Berge takes the Blues and Rock to the next level! He performes with and without band. You wouldn’t notice the difference. The man is a band on his own…
Bjørn Riis released his first solo album, Lullabies in a Car Crash on Karisma Records in late 2014. The album is a personal statement comprising six songs in the tradition of classic and progressive rock. Lullabies in a Car Crash was met by rave reviews and was ranked among the best prog releases of the year. Bjørn is one of the founding members, the lead guitarist and main songwriter of the highly successful Norwegian band Airbag. Their three releases, ‘Identity’ (2009), ‘All Rights Removed’ (2011) and ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ (2013), all on Karisma Records, have all received great reviews worldwide and all become favourites among fans all over the globe.
…Writer's Block is the work of a band at the absolute peak of its writing and performing skill. It's hard to imagine Peter Bjorn and John getting better than this. Hopefully they will, but if not, they'll always have this album to call their masterpiece.
The Tolkien-inspired "Dreamsongs from Middle Earth" is the second product of the creative collaboration between the well-known Swedish musicians and composers Pär Lindh and Björn Johansson, both of whom are multi-instrumentalists. Their first joint musical experience took place in 1996 and was marked with the release of the (still, Tolkien-inspired) album "Bilbo". "Dreamsongs from Middle Earth" is an amazingly coherent recording, which, above all, is due to the fact that all the contents conform to a unified, nearly monolithic, compositional and stylistic conception. (Well, there are only wordless, separate and chorus, female vocals, so the album can be considered only a semi-concept work). There are no pauses between the tracks here, and each of the following ones provides the logical development of the music on its predecessor…
