George Turner was born in Cromford, Derbyshire in 1843. He lived for some years in Barrow-on-Trent and Idrigehay. He specialised in painting the landscape of South Derbyshire, the Trent Valley near Barrow-on-Trent, and North Wales. His pupils included his son, William Lakin Turner (1867-1929) and Luis Bosworth Hurt (1856-1929), who also lived near Barrow-on-Trent and is renowned for his Scottish landscapes with highland cattle. George Turner's pictures are usually signed Geo. Turner or G.Turner and inscribed on the back with the title and his address at the time.

Love Explosion is the fourth solo studio album by Tina Turner, released late 1979 on the EMI label in Europe, Ariola Records in West Germany and United Artists Records in the UK. Italy and South Africa followed in early 1980. The album was not released in the United States. It was her second solo album released after she left husband Ike Turner and the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. Love Explosion failed to chart, so Turner lost her recording contract. It would be her last album until the critically acclaimed Private Dancer in 1984.

It also includes three new songs that were previously unreleased; "Love Thing" (UK Airplay #13), "I Want You Near Me" (#22 UK), and "Way of the World" (UK Airplay #6 and UK #13) as well as a re-recorded dance version of Turner's classic "Nutbush City Limits", all of which were also issued as singles in 1991 and 1992. The album is Turner's biggest seller in the UK where it is one of the best selling albums of all time for sales in excess of 2.4 million copies. It was certified 8x platinum in the UK and stayed on the UK charts for over 140 weeks. The album sold over 7 million copies worldwide.

The initial musical connection between saxophonist Mark Turner and pianist Ethan Iverson was made in 1990s jam sessions in New York City, with both going on to individual success Iverson in hit trio The Bad Plus and Turner as a solo leader and in such groups as the trio Fly (recording in both capacities for ECM). A decade after their first meeting, the saxophonist and pianist began an association in the Billy Hart Quartet, the two players featuring sympathetically on two widely lauded ECM albums by that band.
