Twang Live Tapes, Vol. 1 (2019)

This concert was recorded live at the Groton City Cabaret Series in Groton, Connecticut. Clarinetist Andy Sherwood swings along with Ian Frenkel on piano, Bryan Rizzuto on bass and Tom Briggs on drums. Andy has discovered the ultimate rhythm section for playing songs from the early years of jazz. These particular musical selections were written between the years 1917 to 1922. He has performed many of these selections on other recordings, but on this concert the band was playing at a particularly hight level. On Limehouse Blues, Andy performs on tenor saxophone.

Above the album worked the Nostalgic Melody Music Production Ray Charles - Ultimate Star Collection Vol.1, and his release took place on December 2019. The album has got 92 songs with a total duration of more than an hour. A compilation is a compilation of original music.

Last year, the dusty-fingered diggers behind TRAMP Records unearthed something rather special: an unreleased, full-length recording of a live performance by hitherto unheralded combo Afro Blue Persuasion, an Afro-Cuban Jazz band fronted by Bay Area stalwart Ulysses Crockett. Columbus, Ohio was a test market for cable and public access cable television in 1980. One time our band was playing an outdoor concert in a downtown park and I saw television cameras pointed in our direction. I couldn't resist talking to the people handling the cameras and was introduced to the man in charge of All-American Cablevision, Craig Schneider. He invited the band to do a concert in their TV studio.

Between the nineteenth and the twentieth century, a remarkable body of music destined for children's voices is being formed: outside and inside the theater for music, the white voice can finally enjoy that recognition of identity. The interest of the great composers belonging to the modern season will give substance and nourishment to that identity, contributing to the constitution of a finally emancipated repertoire. Paolo Lucci, founder and director of the Arcum Chorus in Rome, has always fulfilled the task of promoting the knowledge of this repertoire. The collection of music that appears in these two CDs was born precisely from research and exploration, conducted this time on European repertoires.
The chronological arrangement of the authors (from Schubert to Stravinsky, Vol. 1; from Hindemith to Davies Vol. 2) facilitates the perception of a constantly evolving discourse.

Pianist Michael Kirkendoll performs "De Profundis" and "Marriage (Mile 58)" from "The Road", by composer Frederic Rzewski. This is a full performance with complete narration and improvisations derived from the writings of Tolstoy and Oscar Wilde. This double vinyl release in a gatefold package is limited to 500 copies. Sure to become the definitive version to treasure and cherish.
