The nocturnes and barcarolles are key works in Fauré’s output for solo piano that reflect his stylistic evolution. From his early efforts, still close to Chopin and Schumann, to the final pieces with their heady yet elusive harmonies, Aline Piboule invites us to rediscover a whole world of sound on a sublime Gaveau instrument of 1929.

The yamato word for mirror, 鏡kagami, can be read as “kami (divinity) surrounding ga (self)”: if you look in a mirror, what you see is your own self surrounded by divinity. Kaori Uemura has called her tale Kagami , because she believes that music reflects the inner depths of the self in the same way as a mirror. Mirrors were used in art as a reflection of what is, and as an allegory of truth and wisdom, a means of knowing yourself as you are. This recording is also a tribute to the Baroque composers who saw music not only as a mirror of divine creation, but equally as a means of expressing human emotions through musical figures which could produce specific affects.

Uwe Marburger, whose nationality is German, has chosen pseudonym and acronym as the word UMA, which means in Hindu language - the living earth. Perhaps it is a nod to the origins of Nemo. Unknown to the general public, and for good reason, he has composed numerous musical pieces for various media such as games. This album entirely composed on synthesizer is a complete self-production. Uwe was supported on production by Ralf Hess (P.C.M.) which is a colleague of Peter Mergener. The work offers a personal vision, and light in its conception, the universe Oceanic Nemo. The fifteen tracks component, have some great moments of the novel. Not far from his countrymen Tangerine Dream, this work is modest but pleasant.
