Toronto singer/songwriter Adrian Underhill makes sweet songs you’re inclined to sing along to. With an almost timid tenderness, he floats on top of melodies instead of plunging into them, imploring the listener to fill in the empty space. Go ahead and give it a go; his lyrics are so delicate, raw, and confessional (“Weather,” “Not Good Enough”) that you’ll feel like a friend wrote them. Support from Adam Bainbridge, a.k.a. Kindness, and Brandon Coleman (keyboardist/drummer for Kamasi Washington) lift this album from lovely to excellent.
