The Seminal first 2 Albums from the Hip Hop Pioneers in a 2cd digibook along with bonus tracks. Generally recognised as one of the first ever rap groups, The Last Poets' groundbreaking fusion of minimalist African beats with uncompromising lyrics dealing with life in the ghetto, civil rights and social injustice caused a major sensation when their eponymous debut album made the U.S. Top Ten album chart in 1970. The group's militant message and delivery, coupled with their support for The Black Panthers, made them highly controversial at the time leading to their second album, 1971's This Is Madness, being placed on Richard Nixon's Counter-Intelligence programming list. Their pioneering sound continues to influence today's funk and hip-hop scenes, with their mark being heard on countless black musicians over the years. This deluxe 2CD set features the band's first two albums packaged in a digibook. It also includes 3 bonus tracks that Jalal Mansur Nuriddin from the band recorded under the name Lightin' Rod for the Hustler's Convention album, including Doriella Du Fontaine which features Jimi Hendrix on guitar.

Mean, moody and utterly magnificent, in 1964 the Poets were the best thing to come out of Scotland since Denis Law. Managed and produced by Rolling Stones Svengali Andrew Loog Oldham, between October 1964 and January 1966 the group released a quintet of classic singles, ranging from the aggressive mod pop of Thats The Way Its Got To Be and Baby Don t You Do It to the Top Forty hit Now Were Thru, whose haunting minor key melody, edgy lead vocal, eerie Celtic drone, clanging acoustic twelve-string guitar, keening backing vocals and general air of quiet menace encapsulated the Poets unique, spellbinding appeal. Without the massive hit single that their excellence deserved, the Poets fragmented in early 1966 after the departure of lead singer and chief songwriter George Gallacher…

Four of the finest roots albums ever to see issue.. Includes tracks new to CD. Performed and produced by one of British music’s greatest talents. By the mid-1970s, having made his name as one of Britain’s most gifted and versatile musical talents with leading UK reggae outfit Matumbi, Dennis ‘Blackbeard’ Bovell sought to expand his horizons further by creating new material away from the confines of the group. Arguably his most impressive works from this time were four albums released under the nom-de-plume of the 4th Street Orchestra. Released between 1976 and 1978, each set comprised a mixture of high-quality roots and dub, with their sound so authentic, reggae connoisseurs were convinced the music had to be of Jamaican origin. Today, these seminal – and now hugely collectable - LPs are widely regarded by music fans to be among the finest British produced reggae music ever to see issue during the roots era. Now, at long last, they are brought together for this essential set, with a further eight Dennis Bovell-produced bonus tracks from the period making this 2CD even more compelling.

McQueen Street was a hard rock band from Montgomery, Alabama, consisting of Derek Welsh on lead vocals, Richard Hatcher on bass, Michael Powers on guitar, and Derek's brother Chris Welsh on drums. The band was originally known as "Klass", which formed in 1987 and played mostly covers and was well-known on the southeast rock music club circuit in the late 80's. The band changed its name to McQueen Street and signed a record deal with SBK Records, a division of EMI in 1990. They got their name from the street where the recording studio was located in their hometown. The band's debut album, titled "McQueen Street" was produced by Tom Werman with additional production on one track from Steve Stevens of Billy Idol's band, who also played guitar on the album. Jeff Scott Soto, formerly of Journey also contributed to vocals.

The Ultra Vivid Lament’ is the 14th studio album from Manic Street Preachers. It is both reflection and reaction; a record that gazes in isolation across a cluttered room, fogged by often painful memories, to focus on an open window framing a gleaming vista of land melting into sea and endless sky. Musically, ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ is inspired by a formative years record box (ABBA, post-Eno Roxy, the Bunnymen, Fables-era REM, Lodger) though the end result could only be the unique union of James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore, collectively one of the UK’s most consistently brilliant rock’n’roll bands for over three decades.
