VA A Land of Drummers (1996)

The album "The Best of Wales", released in 1996, is a compilation featuring various artists and is focused on Welsh music. Includes 20 tracks that highlight traditional Welsh folk music and choirs. It represents the rich cultural heritage of Wales, with performances by well-known Welsh groups and possibly famous male voice choirs such as the Morriston Orpheus Choir and Treorchy Male Choir. This album captures the essence of Welsh national pride through music.

This is a more obvious and typically new age instrumental collection from such usual Windham Hill artists as George Winston, Michael Manring, Liz Story, and Michael Hedges. Alternating between keyboard and guitar-dominated washes of lush but well-crafted, rarely schmaltzy arrangements. Richard Stoltzman's marimba and clarinet-driven "Dona Nobis Pacem" stands out.

For RP Kahl's movie 'A THOUGHT OF ECSTASY' – shot in the U.S. with, among others, Debora Kara Unger ('Crash', 'The Game') – Gajek and Szary (one part of Modeselektor) compiled and partly edited its soundtrack, a complex and fascinating musical journey into Science Fiction.

A Fifth of Funk is the fifth and final installment of the George Clinton Family Series collection by Parliament-Funkadelic collective members. Compilation producer and P-Funk leader George Clinton gives his final thoughts about the tracks on the album, as well as his feelings on the entire Family Series project, for A Fifth of Funk‍ '​s final track. The title is a play on words of Ludwig van Beethoven's famous Fifth Symphony, as well as Walter Murphy's 1976 disco hit "A Fifth of Beethoven".

By 1962, the year of our compilation, they had recruited a host of new artists of all hues which made Mercury the dominant force in jazz, blues, rock 'n' roll and pop in the US. These artists included Little Richard, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Jivin' Gene, Clyde McPhatter, Charles Aznavour, Quincy Jones, Patti Page, Ray Stevens and many more.

The two CD set of twenty-eight tracks, over 130 minutes of music including such selections - "THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN" (1935-Franz Waxman) - "THE THING" (1951-Dimitri Tiomkin) - "THE EXORCIST" (1973-Mike Oldfield) - "HALLOWEEN" (1978-John Carpenter) - "THE HAUNTING" (1999-Jerry Goldsmith) evokes a string of horror and tension. As usual a few stand outs - "THE DEVIL RIDES OUT" (1968-James Bernard) Bernard's inexorable music may be simply stated, but the orchestration is venomous. This track is surely one of the most formidable and succinct realisations of the satanic in music. "SIX SENSE" (1999-James Newton Howard) this composer adopts a potent blend of richly realised Americana to subtly underscore events, never overtly signposting every narrative twist and turn.
