VA New Crystal Vibrations Music Compilation 10 Celtic Crystals (2010)

This album takes you through the most important of Tchaikovsky’s works: the groundbreaking ballets and monumental symphonies, the concertos and works for string orchestra, arias from Eugene Onegin and of course the 1812 Overture. Performers include Hilary Hahn, Herbert von Karajan, James Levine, Mikhail Pletnev, Msitislav Rostropovich and many others.

The first eight tracks on this disc are rock and pop, including songs from Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians, Don McLean, and the Temptations. The last six are from the pen of John Williams. The music literally haunts you as you watch the movie. It's just as effective here.

Unlike other packages of this type, the liner notes are informative, listing personnel, dates, and a concise history without going on ad nauseam. As an extra bonus this is a budget-priced set, making it highly recommended, especially for the blues novice.
