Vnicholas Mathieu

North of the Color Line examines life in Canada for the estimated 5,000 blacks, both African Americans and West Indians, who immigrated to Canada after the end of Reconstruction in the United States. Through the experiences of black railway workers and their union, the Order of Sleeping Car Porters, Sarah-Jane Mathieu connects social, political, labor, immigration, and black diaspora history during the Jim Crow era.

André Mathieu: Musique de chambre includes the recording of two unpublished pieces by Mathieu (Désir and Nocturne) as well as his Trio of and Quintet, and works for violin and piano. Pianist Jean-Philippe Sylvestre is joined by sought-after musicians - Andrea Tyniec (violin), Marc Djokic (violin), Elvira Misbakhova (viola), and Chloé Dominguez (cello) – for this album dedicated to André Mathieu, one of the leading figures in the classical music world in Canada.

Mathieu Lussier Canadian bassoonist and conductor Mathieu Lussier has performed with many ensembles in North America and Europe, playing modern and Baroque bassoons with Les Violons du Roy, the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, the Arion Baroque Orchestra, the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra, Apollo's Fire, and the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal. He became the artistic director of the Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival in 2007. He has also performed chamber music with the Ensemble Pentaèdre de Montréal, the Caliban Quartet, and Musica Franca. He was named as associate conductor of Les Violons du Roy in 2014, and he has conducted the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Nova Scotia in Halifax, the Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra, the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra, and the Montréal Symphony Orchestra. Lussier has also taught at the University of Montréal, and he has had many of his own compositions performed and published in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. He has recorded Baroque and Classical repertoire for ATMA Classique, including pieces by Vivaldi, Telemann, Boismortier, Devienne, Gossec, Méhul, and Mozart.

Ce "Meilleur de" nous rappelle à notre bon souvenir la carrière vraiment admirable de Mireille Mathieu qui, dès son premier album (dont sont extrait "Mon Crédo", "Qu'elle est belle"), a su trouver son public. Désormais, Mireille Mathieu, la chanteuse aux 122 millions de disques vendus dans le monde, s'est un peu éloignée de l'héxagone mais le plaisir reste là, celle d'une voix puissante, précise, à l'accent réchauffé du sud, celui d'Avignon. Le plaisir est toujours présent.

In collaboration with Futurikon Films, Music Box Records proudly presents on CD the original motion picture soundtrack of the animated film Minuscule: Mandibles from Far Away (2019) composed, orchestrated and conducted by Mathieu Lamboley (Return of the Hero, Boule & Bill 2). Minuscule: Mandibles from Far Away (in French theaters in January 30, 2019), co-written and directed by Hélène Giraud and Thomas Szabo, shares the same creative universe as the successful Minuscule series created in 2006. The first feature film titled Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants (2014) was a huge hit in France and won the France's César Award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 40th César Awards.
