The Thief and the Cobbler is an epic animated film that was created by Richard Williams and a small team of animators. Williams personally financed and worked tirelessly on the film from 1964-1992, at which point Warner Bros, who had provided completion funding in 1989, took the film and rushed out a chopped-up version (titled The Princess and the Cobbler) to compete with Disney's Aladdin, which was of very similar subject matter.
"The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled" is an ongoing effort by the world's greatest animators to complete Richard Williams' lost masterpiece as he meant for it to be seen. Undergoing various revisions as more and more polished work is added to it by passionate animators working in their spare time, the "Recobbled" cut is the complete story but visually in various forms of completion from rough pencil tests all the way to fully finished work (see screencaps). It is both a peek into the process of animation and a look at a great unfinished epic.

Whilst Sinbad (Kerwin Mathews) is on his way to Baghdad, transporting the Princess Parisa (Kathryn Grant), who is to become his bride and secure peace between her kingdom and his, the ship encounters the isle of Colossa. Sinbad and his men are attacked by a gigantic, bestial one-eyed Cyclops, and are saved only when the mysterious magician Sokurah (Torin Thatcher) appears and uses a magic lamp to protect Sinbad's men. But in the process of escaping harm, Sokurah loses the lamp to the Cyclops. He desperately wants to retrieve it and tries to persuade Sinbad to put about and return to Colossa…..

In the thirties and forties, the young Indian actor known as Sabu (born Selar Shaik) captured the hearts of moviegoers in Britain and the United States as a completely new kind of big-screen icon. Sabu was a maharaja’s elephant driver when he was cast in Elephant Boy, a Rudyard Kipling adaptation directed by documentary trailblazer Robert Flaherty and Zoltán Korda that would prove to be enormously popular. Sabu went on to headline a series of fantasies and adventures for the British film titans the Korda brothers, transcending the exoticism projected onto him by commanding the screen with effortless grace and humor. This series collects three of those lavish productions (which also included the classic The Thief of Bagdad):Elephant Boy, the colonialist adventure The Drum, and the timeless Jungle Book.
