When "Turn the Beat Around" became a major hit in 1976, many of the people who heard that disco-soul classic on the radio bought the single and skipped Vicki Sue Robinson's debut album, Never Gonna Let You Go. But those who did hear the rest of the LP found that most of the other tracks were decent, if unremarkable. Club DJs, unlike radio DJs, didn't play "Turn the Beat Around" exclusively some of them found "We Can Do Almost Anything" useful and the exuberant, sunny title track (which is arguably the second best song on the album) enjoyed a lot of club exposure. But much of the LP isn't aimed at the dance floor; "When You're Lovin' Me," "Lack of Respect," and "Wonderland of Love" are competent Northern soul items with a strong Philadelphia influence.

Suddenly '70s is a 2CD compilation of classic hits from the 1970's, released by the Razor & Tie label. This set features all songs remastered by Steve Hoffman.

"Victory" is the 5th full-length studio release from noted R&B/soul/pop singer/songwriter/drummer/producer Narada Michael Walden. Released in 1980 on Atlantic, it featured him once again teaming up with producer Bob Clearmountain.

Prelude's Greatest Hits is a 6-volume CD series released between the years 1988 and 1995. Due to the success of the first compilation of some of Prelude Records' best music, they released two follow-ups a year later before doing another in 1990. People requested more and Unidisc in Canada released two more in 1995, which also includes songs from Prelude's subsidiary label, Vinyl Dreams.

On "Awakening", Narada Michael Walden placed aside the jazz fusion leanings of his early albums in favor of a more radio-friendly sound. The strategy worked, with Walden having his first Top Ten R&B single, "I Don't Want Nobody Else (To Dance With You)," which also charted number 47 on the pop charts in early 1979 and Awakening breaking into the R&B Top 15. The follow-up single, the mid-tempo groover "Give Your Love a Chance" featured grand arrangements by Patrick Adams. Walden displays his hyperkinetic drumming skills on "They Want the Feeling." Other standouts are "Love Me Only," the beautiful radio-aired album track "Listen to Me," and the tender "Will You Ever Know."
