Them Crooked Vultures is a rock supergroup formed in Los Angeles in 2009 by John Paul Jones (former member of Led Zeppelin), Dave Grohl (of Foo Fighters and former member of Nirvana), and Josh Homme (of Queens of the Stone Age and former member of Kyuss). The group also includes guitarist Alain Johannes during live performances. The band's first single "New Fang" was released in October 2009, followed by the group's self-titled debut album the following month, debuting at number 12 on the Billboard 200. The group won the 2011 Grammy Awards Best Hard Rock Performance category for "New Fang".

Vultures 1 (stylized in all caps) is the debut studio album by American hip-hop superduo ¥$, comprised of rapper Kanye West and singer Ty Dolla Sign. It was released independently[a] on February 10, 2024, through YZY. The album features uncredited guest appearances from Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, Freddie Gibbs, Quavo, Nipsey Hussle, YG, Lil Durk, Bump J, Rich the Kid, Chris Brown, India Love, and West's daughter, North West. Production was handled by West and Ty Dolla Sign, among others. The album serves as a follow-up to both artists' respective 2021 albums, Donda and Cheers to the Best Memories.

Blues guitarist David Gogo was born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, and received his first guitar at the age of five (having been given a ukulele the year before). He honed his skills for the next decade and, by the age of 16, he was gaining work as a professional musician. Inspired by a meeting with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gogo became even more committed, forming a the Persuaders, which went from a post-high school band to one that was soon opening for acts like Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, and Albert Collins. Following a stint in Europe which found the Persuaders opening for the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Gogo signed a solo deal with EMI Records. While writing material for his debut, Gogo managed to find time to appear on Tom Cochrane's highly successful Mad Mad World album.
