2009 two CD set, a collection of tracks from the Disco phenomenon led by Harry Casey. In their own understated way KC & the Sunshine Band were trailblazers with a multi-racial line-up. Like many other southern setups (most notably at Stax whose black and white musicians also freely recorded together despite the political climate at that time) it was a perfect marriage between the musicians, the gritty gut-bucket funk of the band mixed with Harry Casey's simple, but heartfelt lyrics lending it a pop-sheen lacking in comparable bands of the era. This consists of the material originally released on Planet Records when sister Bonnie Pointer left the group but making sisters June, Ruth and Anita become bigger stars with their success on the pop charts. This was released by Camden/Sony Music.

This release presents two albums by Johnny Hodges, recorded outside of the Ellington setting and both appearing here on CD for the first time ever. The first, which was originally released as PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED RECORDINGS, is in quintet format and marks Hodges only recorded encounter ever with Argentinean pianist and composer Lalo Schifrin, who contributes two compositions. While the second album, THE ELEVENTH HOUR, showcases the saxophonist soloing on standard tunes with a big band of winds & strings, conducted & arranged by Oliver Nelson.
