Wolverine and the X-Men is an American cartoon series by Marvel Animation. It is the fourth animated adaptation of the X-Men characters, the other three being Pryde of the X-Men, X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men: Evolution.

Originally forming in the early 1980s as Sneak Preview, Doug Pinnick on bass guitar and vocals, Ty Tabor on guitar and Jerry Gaskill on drums became King’s X in 1985, relocating to Texas from their native Missouri. Major tours across their career with the likes of Iron Maiden and AC/DC, plus an appearance at Woodstock 94, would bring their sound to a worldwide stage, influencing important fans such as Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Pantera.

While hugely successful now, it took a number of years since the X-Men's first issue (cover dated September 1963) to become even a mild success. The series had been out of production since 1970 until interest was rekindled with 1975's and the debut of a new, international team. Under the guidance of writer Chris Claremont (whose 16-year stint began with August 1975's ), the series grew in popularity worldwide, eventually spawning a franchise with numerous spin-off "X-Books", including , the simply titled , and a number of prefixed titles such as and . Ultimate X-Men is a superhero comic book published by Marvel Comics. The series is a modernized reimagining of the long-running marvel comic X-Men. This title is set outside of the Marvel Universe continuity in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, and started from scratch with new versions of each character. The series began in 2001 under writer Mark Millar and artist Adam Kubert. The book is currently written by Robert Kirkman and pencilled by Tom Raney and Ben Oliver, who alternate with every story arc. These X-Men live in a darker world than their mainstream counterparts and their different fashion sense is reflected in their costumes.
