Yannick Franck & Raum The Belgian Wave

This collection of previously unreleased live recordings celebrates the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra’s centenary and the ten-year residency, from 2008 to 2018, of its principal conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Star pianist Daniil Trifonov releases his new album My American Story – North, embarking on a very personal musical journey across the Americas. The first of a total of two albums, My American Story – North, begins in the USA, where Trifonov has spent almost half of his life. It features a collection of pieces reflecting the variety of his experiences. The album’s diverse repertoire “has given me access to many perspectives, styles, cultures, places, people, stories and forms of expression that have shaped and molded my experience of America,” says Trifonov.

To mark his debut on Deutsche Grammophon with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Yannick Nézet-Séguin pays tribute to his legendary predecessor on the podium, Leopold Stokowski. The transcriptions of Bach's organ music are among Stokowski's most celebrated achievements, and none is more famous than his expansive arrangement of the Toccata and Fugue in D minor, which was prominently featured in Walt Disney's Fantasia. It's a classic showpiece for the orchestra, as are Stokowski's fulsome orchestrations of the "Little" Fugue in G minor, and the Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor.

In 1933, Florence Price's 'Symphony No. 1' was the first symphonic work by a Black woman to be played by a major American orchestra. Steeped in American folk music, spirituals, and church hymns, Price's celebrated work reflects her experience as a Black woman raised in the post-Civil War South. Florence Price composed her 'Third Symphony' in the midst of the Chicago Renaissance and it reflects her growth as a composer, taking more risks, adding modern techniques, and expanding emotional elements as compared to her more traditional 'First Symphony'. The 2 symphonies, played by the Philadelphia Orchestra and conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, were recorded in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia in early 2021.

Directed by the Tony Award winning and six time MET director, Bartlett Sher, this lavish production of Verdi's operatic masterpiece Otello features one of the most exciting young opera singers of her generation, Sonya Yoncheva, and the Metropolitan Opera & Chorus, conducted by their new director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Following Departure, an album hailed by NPR as a singular combination of swagger and stunning technique, Daniil Trifonov completes his two-part Destination: Rachmaninov journey with Arrival, a coupling of Rachmaninov s Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 3 performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Arrival also features Trifonov s own transcriptions of Rachmaninov s Vocalise and The Silver Sleigh Bells.

Pianist Daniil Trifonov releases Destination Rachmaninov - Departure, the first of two albums comprising Trifonov's cycle of the great Russian composer's piano concertos. The album features Concertos Nos. 2 & 4, recorded with Yannick Nezet-Seguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra (the same orchestra with which Rachmaninov recorded this set of concerti over 80 years ago), along with Rachmaninov's solo piano transcriptions of three movements from Bach's Violin Partita in E Major.

One of today's most popular and most critically-acclaimed pianists, Daniil Trifonov records an album of Rachmaninov Variations. Album includes solo performances of Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Variations on a Theme of Chopin and Trifonov's own composition, Rachmaniana. Also included is the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini for which Yannick Nezet-Seguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra join.

The journey continues: Deutsche Grammophon is releasing an exclusive box set of Rachmaninov's four piano concertos, recorded by Daniil Trifonov and the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézét -Séguin, to mark the 150th Rachmaninov anniversary. Also included are the Paganini Rhapsody, as well as Trifonov's own Rachmaninov transcriptions.
