Realistic IX, the third full-length by the duo of Michael Jones and Turk Dietrich aka Belong, is both an expansion and excavation of their signature acid-washed songcraft. Bleached guitars, metronomic drums, and buried voices rev, swirl, and seethe across shifting gradients of haze and hypnosis, alternately driving and diffuse. Melodies surge closer to the surface, flexing their form before resubmerging into quickening currents of feedback. Emmy Award-winning composer Geoff Zanelli is a standout in the film and television scoring industry, garnering accolades and recognition for his diverse musical voice. Zanelli has composed for directors such as Gore Verbinski and Ridley Scott; writer/directors David Koepp, Peter Hedges and David Duchovny; producers Jerry Bruckheimer, Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg; as well as actor/producers Angelina Jolie and Tom Hanks.In 2019, Zanelli teamed with Disney, Angelina Jolie and Joachim Rønning to score “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” including working with Bebe Rexha on her song for the film titled “You Can’t Stop The Girl,” as well as two movies from prolific director Deon Taylor, “The Intruder” and “Black and Blue.”

Everything from the nine 45s and sole LP the Caravelles issued in the U.K. from 1963-1968 is on this 31-track compilation, which also includes two tracks that only surfaced on a French EP, and even four German-language recordings. As the first official anthology of their work, it does a marvelous job, including a 16-page booklet with plenty of illustrations and first-hand quotes from the group's Lois Wilkinson. Known almost exclusively for their 1963 hit "You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry," it proves they were a little more interesting than the one-shot novelty act they're sometimes tagged as, though their relationship to pop/rock was usually only casual.

The Beatles’ songs have always been a source of inspiration for Jamaican artists and producers. The number of covers that were released, both in Jamaica and in the UK, are countless. The reggae fans who were more focused on roots/rastafari themes were not very enthusiastic about these efforts, but the older reggae fans certainly appreciated these tunes.
