Delve into the world of myths reconstructed in music by celebrated composers from different cultures and times. This unique album features three world premiere recordings, bringing fresh and exciting music to the programme. Greek pianist and professor Zoe Samsarelou has expertly curated a selection of works that weave together an interconnected narrative, taking you on a journey through the myth of Dionysus. From the works of Couperin, Rameau, Dandrieu, and Daquin to the eminent Greek composers of the 20th and 21st centuries and the Late Romantics in between, each piece is thoughtfully selected and presented.
The collaboration between cellist Zoe Knighton and pianist Amir Farid continues with a collection of short works by Clara and Robert Schumann.
Muriel Zoe’s creativity springs from a rare skill in two fields: she has not just a great musical but also an artistic talent which developed early and which have fed off each other since then. Muriel Zoe is today a freelance musician and painter as well as a teacher of painting and graphic art in Hamburg.
Together with her Hamburg musical friends Michael Leuschner (tp), Matthias Pogoda (g), Johannes Huth (b) and Michael Verhovec (dr) Muriel Zoe has been developing the material for her ACT debut album: Red And Blue is the very individual, most entertaining and without doubt a supreme analysis by a young singer of the classics of the jazz songbook - from "Bye Bye Blackbird" through "Round Midnight" to "Autumn Leaves" - enhanced by two of her own compostions - "Lovesong No.1" and "All The Way".
Gathering together an eight-piece band of outstanding musicians, Zoe Rahman has created The Colour Of Sound: the most ambitious, many-hued, uplifting large-ensemble music of her multi-award winning career.
