Hotel America (1981)
Helene, a pill-addicted anesthesiologist, is mourning the death of her boyfriend when, through a car accident she causes, she chances to meet the lethargic Gilles, a young man who lives for free at his mother's hotel. Gilles pursues Helene romantically, and she eventually softens up. Gilles, however, is also devoted to Bernard, a petty crook who revels in mugging gay men. All three struggle with relationships that seem to be going nowhere.

Gilles Gabriel, chanteur des 80's en plein come-back, est tué dans un accident de voiture causé par Jean-Christian Ranu, comptable à la COGIP. Mais Gilles Gabriel n'est pas totalement mort : son esprit bien vivant a atterri dans le corps de Ranu, qui ne comprend pas qui est cette personne qui parle dans sa tête. Gilles, lui, n'a aucun contrôle des mouvements de son hôte. Gilles et Ranu vont vite se rendre à l'évidence : ils n'ont rien en commun, sauf ce corps qu'ils vont devoir partager. C'était déjà compliqué chacun de leur côté… alors maintenant, à deux dans la même personne…

At a party one evening he meets a wealthy bourgeois woman named Nathalie Sylvener. It is love at first sight, and on his return to Paris, Gilles tells Eloïse that he is now devotedly attached to another woman. Although Nathalie agrees to live with him in Paris, she rejects Gilles' offer of marriage. It is not long before the couple have settled into a routine and their passion begins to cool.
