The original Gabin — a French actor known for his portrayals of jaded, faded anti-heroes in 1930s and '40s-era films — might have chuckled ironically if he had been told that, a half-century after his heyday, two Italian musicians would name a fledgling lounge music project after him. But if he had listened to the music, he would have understood. It's full of languid grace and melancholy and is undeniably stylish — exactly what you'd expect to hear in a Parisian café or supper club. Just to add to the effect, many of the song titles and lyrics are in French.

Troubled Water is a 10 track album written and arranged by Marco with help from his producer Joe Rodwell and additional production/mixing credits going to Max Bottini from Gabin, Arbus Paik, Mariano La Torre, Annette Exner, Nick & Danny Chatelain, Sam Ewens and Peter Creuser.

Marianna Bottini and Alessandro Rolla belong to that group of forgotten protagonists of the early nineteenth century who successfully operated in various compositional fields. Rolla's music captures the peculiarities of the historical moment: the heroic, patriotic sentiment of a newborn homeland, the Mitteleuropean harmonic elegance, and the Italian belcanto. On the other side the surprising talent of Marianna Bottini is revealed by her intense compositional activity in the years between 1815 (when she was just 13 years old) and 1823, the year of her wedding.

Carlo e Giulia, due trentenni circondati da un gruppo di amici e genitori in crisi, stanno per sposarsi e avere un figlio. Ma le cose non sembrano andare per il verso giusto. Nicolas Nobili è nato in una famiglia ricca e incentrata sull’azienda vinicola del padre, mentre lui aveva la testa sempre e soltanto immersa nei romanzi. Nonostante condividano la cittadina d’origine, Emma e Nicolas non potrebbero essere più distanti per estrazione e storia familiare, eppure hanno costruito un legame fortissimo. Amici da una vita, insieme hanno coltivato una sfrenata passione per i libri e insieme hanno raggiunto il loro sogno: lasciarsi la provincia alle spalle per approdare nella Milano capitale dell’editoria, al servizio di due note agenzie letterarie. Ma la stessa carriera che sembrava unirli, ora li divide, portando a galla invidie e gelosie che in realtà celano un amore mai confessato..
