Although by the second issue there's a a sort of groping feel, the latter three bring the whole concept to an interlocking, coherent whole. Tout au long du récit, nous suivons Saltiel, photographe professionnel, et ses amis. Le premier tome tourne autour d'un artiste traumatisé par la guerre d'Algérie dont les œuvres tourmentées et brillantes attirent toutes les convoitises. Dans la deuxième histoire Saltiel et ses potes sont en villégiature dans une vieille baraque au bord du fleuve. Chronique sur l'amitié qui bascule vers la perception de la célébrité quand on apprend qu'une star du cinéma aurait loué un villa sur l'île... Enfin, le troisième tome, la star de cinéma rencontrée dans le tome 2 décide de faire un film sur l'histoire de l'artiste maudit du premier tome ! Tous les éléments du récit se rencontrent et s'entrechoquent.

An intriguing premise for an original five-issue miniseries from writer Matz and artist Hugo Petrus published by Archaia Studios Press. As per Wikipedia, Matz is a French comics and film writer whose real name is Alexis Nolent. Nolent delivers a story that has an intriguingly European feel. There's an interesting toning back of the violence and action in a way that feels different from American comics. There's a lot of suspense and subtle excitement in the comic, helped truly by the brooding intensity of Petrus' artwork. In other words we have a creative team here that does not sacrifice the narrative flow of the story for gratuitous action scenes. For Issue #4 we get an interesting history lesson as well. Three thumbs up.
