Amity Shales

An Aussie metalcore group with highly confessional lyrics and a melody-driven emo-tinged sound, the Amity Affliction emerged in 2008 with Severed Ties. They hit their stride in 2012 with the release of their third full-length effort, Chasing Ghosts, which like subsequent outings This Could Be Heartbreak (2016), Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them (2020), and Not Without My Ghosts (2023), soared to the top of the Australian charts, and found international success as well.

2023 release. With a musicality as heavy and hard-hitting as singer Joel Birch's intensely emotional lyrics-about suicide, gun violence, religion and mental illness-Not Without My Ghosts finds The Amity Affliction at their brutal best. With four vocal features, including rising Los Angeles talent Phem, the band's first female feature, on the title track, the Australian quartet's eighth LP pushes the boundaries and genres of heavy music. In this spirit, the ATMSS International Workshop “Advances in Laboratory Testing & Modelling of Soils and Shales” (Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland; 18-20 January 2017) has been organized to promote the exchange of ideas, experience and state of the art among major experts active in the field of experimental testing and modelling of soils and shales. The Workshop has been organized under the auspices of the Technical Committees TC-101 “Laboratory Testing”, TC-106 “Unsaturated Soils” and TC-308 “Energy Geotechnics” of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.

The Amity Afflictionhave announced a new album,Misery,and are giving fans a taste of what it sounds like with their newest single, "Ivy (Doomsday)." The premiere of "Ivy (Doomsday)" also came with a new video, which is considered the first chapter of a three-part short film that tells the story of three friends looking for vengeance. Miserywill be the Amity Affliction's sixth studio album, following their 2016 LPThis Could Be Heartbreak.The band have been teasing the album on social media, even making a movie-like trailer to promote the project. The band will be going on tour this summer into the fall, and their live performances will start this summer at the final Vans Warped Tour.
