Anatomi of The Ship

With the publication of his third book in the Anatomy of the Ship series, Janusz Skulski has produced one of the best single references on any Japanese naval vessel. Most of the best sources for the IJN are unaccessible to the average reader due to language difficulites and Skulski does an admirable job in acccessing Japanese sources. This is an excellect modeler's reference and the drawings are finely detailed.

This volume contains a collection of over 700 drawings, illustrating and describing the largest and most powerful of Japan's heavy cruisers, Takao. These were aggressive ships, being fast, heavily armed with both guns and torpedoes, and well-protected, and saw much action in the Pacific War of 1941-45. The author's drawings cover every aspect of their intricate design, from hull structure to armament, boats, aircraft and catapults.

With a trial speed of nearly 40 knots "Bartolomeo Colleoni" was arguably the fastest cruiser ever built, but was only one of a series of such ships - known as the 'Condottieri' type - built by the Italian Navy between the wars to counter the large French super-destroyers. Features a pictorial section, action painting and colour guide on the jacket, and more than 300 perspective and 3-view drawings, with descriptive keys, of every detail of the ship.
