Born and raised in Hong Kong, soprano Alison Lau is one of the most sought-after soloists of her generation. Highlights of the 2016/17 season include Bach’s St. John Passion under the baton of Professor John Butt, and a series of Bach cantatas concerts with Die Konzertisten, CPE Bach's Magnificat with the Hong Kong Bach Choir, a Brahms and Schumann themed song recital with Music Lab which was reprised in London, Alma Mahler’s Fünf Lieder with Musica Viva, as well as role début as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with Opera Hong Kong. In October 2017, she made her début in Germany as the soprano soloist in Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem to critical acclaim.

Someone in a prison run by a corrupt warden fakes the deaths of convicts to later use them as expendable assassins. A police officer is sent into the prison to gather evidence of the corruption.

Lin Jhen Hsin is an ordinary office worker who gets ridiculed by her subordinates. Dejected, she listens to a cassette recording of an old Andy Lau song. This brings her back to her high school days, where she was an ordinary high school girl. She has a crush on Ouyang Fei Fan, the school's most popular male student. One day, Jhen Hsin receives a chain letter, warning her of impending doom if she does not pass the message on. Naively, she passes it on to Hsu Tai Yu, the school's notorious gangster boss, her math teacher, and Tao Min Min, the school's most popular girl. While Tai Yu was reading the letter, he got injured in a car accident. After weeding out the letter's sender, the angry Tai Yu made Jhen Hsin his 'friend' and forced her to run errands for him in exchange for leaving Fei Fan alone, thus making her his errand-girl.

Mr. Wu (Andy Lau) is kidnapped in Beijing by Zhang Hua (Wang Qianyuan) and three accomplices, all disguised as cops and demanding a ransom of 3 million RMB. In the ensuing 20 hours, the Chinese detectives led by Chief Xing (Liu Ye) quickly form a task force and sweep the city. Time is of the essence as Mr. Wu is ordered to be killed at 9 PM regardless of whether the money is collected or not. The police eventually apprehend Hua alone. As the deadline approaches, the detectives and captors collide. The story is based on the 2004 real-life celebrity kidnapping case in China.
