We are proud and happy to announce our collaboration with the young pianist Anna Fedorova. On her debut recording with Channel Classics she shares her four favorite fantasies with us: “We all have lots of fantasies which we often love to dive into. In music - Fantasie is one of the freest genres which each composer explores in his own way and I thought it would be fascinating to dive into the fantasy world of several magnificent composers. For this particular CD I chose some of my favorite fantasies which I have been performing during the last couple of seasons.”

Throughout years of friendship, they discovered many similarities in their upbringing. Both Dana and Anna’s parents met in Moscow’s conservatory. Dana’s parents - Julia Dinerstein and Mikhail Zemtsov - are both renowned violists. Anna’s parents - Tatiana Abayeva and Borys Fedorov - are incredible pianists and famous piano professors.

Anna Fedorova explores the Intrigues of the Darkness in these programmatic and extremely virtuosic works for solo piano. The journey from darkness to light begins with Scriabin's terrifying "Black Mass" Sonata. The work represents a satanic ritual that is possessed by the spectre of the Mephistophelian Liszt. De Falla's Suite from El Amor brujo conjures a mysterious world, full of magic, rituals and ghost visitations. Ravel described his Gaspard de la nuit as "romantic and of transcendent virtuosity". These highly evocative pieces are based on Aloysius Bertrand's prose poems depicting scenes of a hanged man sighing on the gallows and a devilish dwarf. Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition portrays many scenes of darkness but emerges into light with the Great Gate of Kiev, in which triumphant episodes alternate with moments of religious contemplation.

For this all-Rachmaninov program, she is joined by Modestas Pitrenas and the Sinfonieorchester St. Gallen. Fedorova says, "Throughout my life Rachmaninov and his music have had a special place in my heart. In September 2013 Anna performed Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto at the opening of the season of Sunday Morning Concerts series at the Great hall of the Royal Concertgebouw. Within two and a half a years, the recording of this concert received over 9 million views on YouTube and was highly praised among renown musicians. In November 2015 she returned to perform in the big hall of Concertgebouw in Sunday Morning Concerts series Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No 3, this performance was again steamed live on TV, internet and radio.
