Issued as a precursor to Antony and the Johnsons' Swanlights, Thank You for Your Love contains five tracks – the title cut is taken from the album; "My Lord, My Love," was issued as a bonus on The Crying Light; and there are a pair of surprising covers. The title is the thematic track the EP hinges on. Antony Hegarty's longing has always been at the heart of his arresting, courageous, yet vulnerable voice. On this track, however, in a relaxed, easy, flowing manner, backed by a host of downtown NY jazz musicians, Hegarty makes a direct declaration of gratitude for the kind of love that provides rescue.

All of the composers on this album were part of a new ‘English Style’ that blended traditional lyricism with wider influences from Europe and Scandinavia. They shared a rebelliousness against established musical conservatism and created vivid responses to nature and the living folk heritage of England and Ireland. From Vaughan Williams’ enchanting textures, via Bax and Bridge’s harmonic surprises, to Delius’s return to his roots at the end of his life—this is a rich collection of shimmering gems from the British Isles.
In 'The Fairy Queen,' two artistic geniuses met. The scenario is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream; the music is by Henry Purcell, the greatest English composer of his day. The result is one of the first great operas, a dazzling display of music and emotion that has lost none of its power since its premiere in 1692. Much of the music has come to have a life beyond the opera itself: songs such as "The Plaint," "Thrice Happy Lovers" and "Hark! The Echoing air" now regularly grace the concert hall stage, a delight for singers and audiences alike.
