In this unusual women's prison film, actress-singer Meiko Kaji stars as Nami, who escapes a prison with her friend Yukiko. The authorities chase them down and take them to a maximum-security facility where they are tortured severely. Angered, Nami becomes the vengeful Scorpion.

Detective Holland calls in Anna Reed to recount her claims that she was involved in a cult whose members were either murdered or committed suicide. Anna narrates a series of flashbacks. She receives a call at a telephone booth in the city one day, and hears voices calling her name. This causes her to become possessed. Later, at home, she is suddenly overcome by a force, which causes her to give into pleasure. The possession leads her to a mansion, where she is seduced by a group of ghoulish hosts. Anna attempts to escape, but is ultimately overcome. At the end, we return to the present, where Anna is talking to the detective. Anna wanders back out into the city, where she hears the voices again. The film ends showing the door to the mansion being thrown open, with the ghoulish cult there waiting for her.

The pioneering Kôji Wakamatsu (born Ito Takashi) was a contemporary of Oshima Nagisa and equally controversial, yet not as famous. While with the yakuza he would work for the mob collecting payments on film sets among other thuggery. Upon release and following odd jobs he became an assistant to a film director and eventually make his own pink film erotic feature called Sweet Trap in 1963. Twenty or so films, including several acclaimed ones for Nikkatsu Studio, later he created his own Wakamatsu production where he and crew would push back against norms by shooting softcore pink features, violent movies, left-wing resistance cuts and even internationally ….

The hard life rhythm of Heiner's gray everyday life means working in a mine, drinking beer and going to bed with women-seldomly with his wife because of his baby son and neighbors downstairs.
