Moonfrost was founded by Draugrym, Thorn and Graven in 2001. After performing at the Ripped Corpse festival the first demo was unleashed in 2002, a mix of black and death metal. In the following years the style of the band drifted toward pagan black metal and the song "Dark times to come" was featured on the german "Schneesturm" sampler, alongside bands like Paysage d'hiver, Nordlicht and others.The CD "Starfall" was planned to be released on the 21.12.2010 under Sturmklang, however it was delayed by the label due to financial problems. In the end Sturmklang had to cancel the deal, so Moonfrost signed with Gravity Entertainment.
