Strut present a new definitive collection of singles released by jazz maverick Sun Ra during his Earth years, spanning 1952 to 1991. Released prolifically during the 1950s and more sporadically thereafter, primarily on the Saturn label, the 45s offer one-off meteorites from Ra’s prolific cosmic journey, tracing the development of his forward-thinking “Space-Bop” and his unique take on jazz and blues traditions which sounded unlike anything else from the period. As with his LPs, most 45s were only pressed in small runs and were sold at gigs and have since become extremely rare and sought after. Some have only been discovered in physical form in recent years; some were planned and pencilled but allegedly never made it to vinyl and some appeared as one-off magazine singles and posthumous releases.

Legendary musician Don Burrows (AO, MBE) has been at the forefront of the jazz world for most of his 60 years in the business. He's a household name in Australia, renowned for his musicianship and his enthusiastic support for the jazz arts. He's also highly respected internationally, where he's toured numerous times to great acclaim annually since 1960.

This perennially popular annual compilation had Australia listening to Camille before she became a JJJ darling, Fade Out Line before The Avener’s remix topped charts across Europe, Yael Naim’s New Soul before it became the soundtrack to Apple’s MacBook Air, and to Lilly Wood and the Prick ahead of Prayer C becoming an international hit. Dancing, hanging out with friends, enjoying sunny afternoons in the garden with a glass of Champagne in hand; So Frenchy has been a soundtrack of musical joie de vivre. And now, to celebrate a decade of friendship, its curators have carefully culled its whopping 360-song playlist down to the very best of the best.

This box is a musical treat for all jazz fans, as no less than 20 original albums by the Modern Jazz Quartet are released here on ten CDs…

The album series "Die Einlassmusik" from Schiller started in 2004. The music is exclusively composed for the regular live tours from Schiller and is played there as pre-show introduction to make the waiting time for the audience more pleasant.
